I hope to build upon existing literature in order to further understand the unique challenges and emerging themes experienced by the practicing pregnant therapist. One of the primary and personal aims of this study was to establish partnerships with the individuals interviewed. This will help gain a more complete understanding of the experience of continuing clinical work while pregnant. Following completion of this dissertation, my hope is to share their stories, highlighting the unique experiences of being a pregnant therapist. While research emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship through which psychotherapeutic change occurs, few studies have examined the experiences of the pregnant therapist, and the impact pregnancy has on the treatment process. To explore this unique phenomenon, licensed psychologists who continued clinical work while pregnant were recruited from diverse treatment settings and interviewed in order to gain insight into the experiences of a pregnant therapist. As a result of these interviews, the following themes emerged: (a) impacts of pregnancy on the treatment process, (b) pregnancy disclosure, (c) therapists' emotional reactions, and (d) support from superiors.
